For me, a career in academia must involve a genuine commitment to ensuring that the institutions I occupy do not reproduce inequality and injustice. It must also involve helping bring the insights generated by these institutions to audiences who could benefit from them, both within and outside of academia. Here is a sampling of things I have done over the years with those goals in mind:

  • In 2025, I am co-organizing (with Simona Capisani) the ‘Climate Hub’ at the Pacific APA. The Climate Hub aims to make progress in practice toward addressing the climate crisis through research, teaching, public philosophy, and institutional change.

  • In 2023, I co-organized (with Simona Capisani and Caitlin Fitchett) a conference on Ethics and Solar Geoengineering at the Harvard Kennedy School, which brought an international and interdisciplinary list of participants and attendees

  • As a graduate student at Harvard, I co-ran (with Denish Jaswal) our department’s ‘Minorities and Philosophy’ Chapter for three years. Among our many efforts, we organized a department-wide fundraiser for the MA Chapter of the National Lawyers’ Guild and succeeded in lobbying to designate one of our yearly colloquium slots to an MAP-chosen speaker.

  • I was also a ‘Graduate Student Representative’ for two years, where I was responsible for advocating for graduate students’ interests to the faculty.

  • I also served on the department’s ‘Climate Working Group,’ which organized community-wide conversations about race, class, and gender in the department.
